Electric Gypsy Presents...

Direct Links to Great Independent Tunes!

Below (in reverse order of when found and added) are direct, "one click" links to streaming audio and video tunes by a plethora of independent musical artists. Please check out at least a couple of these songs each week. When you find something by somebody you like, take the time to investigate that artist further! (You will quickly find that the RIAA record companies have nothing on the independent musicians of the world! And, you will be pleasantly enriched by the wonderful stuff you had been missing all along!)

Not everything below is of expensive production standards, but all the tunes have been scrutinized by us and have been deemed to be of very watchable/listenable quality! So, don't worry. There's no time-wasting, hopelessly "crap-amateur" stuff here! (You probably won't like everything, and that's OK! Taste is a mater of personal choice! But we are certain there is much here you will enjoy if you like popular styles of music!)

In the brackets, we will give you a quick description of the musical style & genre and info on what type of file to expect. (Whether it is a video or audio stream, or a download.) Below the link, we might provide an insight or comment. (Especially if we had anything to do with the tune!)

If you are an independent artist who would like your tune added or replaced/removed, if you know of a link we should include, if you find a broken/dead link, or if you find something that turns out NOT to be an independent tune (meaning, the artist has sadly signed with an RIAA major label) ...PLEASE tell us! (You can use our forum to talk to us about anything!)

You might want to bookmark this page because it will be updated often. There are NO plans to place outside advertisements on this page. (That wouldn't be fair to the artists unless we shared ad-revenue and that's not something we are prepared to delve into right now. Maybe someday!) All we hope in return for or efforts on this page is for you to be a fan of independent music (instead of letting the major labels dictate everything that enters your ears!)

...and, of course perhaps, for you to take a gander at some of our own musical offerings (Electric Gypsy) from time to time.

SONG TITLE - ARTIST [YouTube video - STYLE]
Stay tuned folks! Much more to come!
'Bells and Whistles' - The Spring Standards [YouTube video - indie folk/rock]
Lovely tune with graphic animation. Be sure to check other live performance vids by this band!
'Big Black Bell' - Roy Paymon [YouTube video - folk/modern rock]
A "stomping" good debut production video!
Don't Want Anybody - Julius C [YouTube video - alt/rock]
Don't know all that much about this band. Hopefully they are NOT trying to get signed by a major label (but my probably trying. *sigh*) Enjoy this very entertaining professionally shot video featuring the band members in gorilla suits!
'Chilly Willy' - Matt Grasser [YouTube video - modern alt/funk]
Single b&w camera, but good audio and performance.
'Bedside Regiments' - Ten and Six [YouTube video - alternative rock]
Amazing stop motion video by lead singer's girlfriend.
'A**holes!' - The Van Dyckx [YouTube video - alternative rock/humor]
Warning, moderate profanity utilized lyrically.
'Crush' - Tim Sanders [Facebook video - progressive rock instrumental]
A blisteringly good guitar song by my friend Tim Sanders whom we've known since DMusic days of yore!
'Fish' - Goldenhorse [YouTube video - rock/alternative]
Lovely mellow song from an Australian indie duo.
'Lions' - Samantha Crain & the Midnight Shivers [YouTube video - rock/alternative]
Amazing live stage performance!
'Tying My Shoes' - Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps [YouTube video - folk/bluegrass]
Some great front-porch pickin'
'Love Don't Stop' - The Druthers [YouTube video - folk/rock]
A wonderful "slow-dance" song performed live on a Portland Oregon morning tv show!
(Iowa tv appearance) - Sara Routh [YouTube video - folk/rock]
A very fine singer songwriter performing for a local television station in Iowa.
'Your Love' (cover of the Outfield) - Ketura [YouTube video -classic pop/rock]
This is a very well thought out and performed single camera shot video with great audio! BONUS: use of a stylophone!
'Popcorn' - Necronomikids [YouTube video - surf thrash/alternative]
This is a great instrumental and the video fits the music well!
'Give Me One Reason' (cover of Tracy Chapman) - Closer Still [YouTube video - folk/pop acoustic]
Very nicely done vid featuring 3 cute girls singing (one on bongos) and a handsome dude on guitar!
'Impossible' - (cover of Shontelle) Maddi Jane [YouTube video - modern pop/torch song]
'explodeder' on reddit's 'We Are The Music Makers' is the producer and guitarist of this song sung by an amazingly talented little girl. Maddi has already been on the Ellen DeGeneres show and had a few other opportunities. Hopefully, her folks will not let her be scooped up by Disney or Nickelodeon. But regardless of her getting signed or not, it is really the talent of 'explodeder' that is being featured with this clip!
(this is not a song, just a segment of an interview!) - Immortal Technique [video/audio? - style and/or genre?]
THIS!!! (From Russia Today. Sigh! It's such a shame you'd never likely see this sentiment on a corporate USA media tv channel.)
'Don't Think Twice' (cover of Bob Dylan) - Lisa Stubbs [YouTube video - folk/americana]
Lisa's got some nice budding vocal and guitar skills!
'Cheap Bets & Cigarettes' - Justin VanHaven [YouTube video - acoustic/alternative/folk]
Simple one camera shot of a singer/songwriter doing his thing!
(various tunes from the album 'Huge Mask'!) - Quaker Parents [BandCamp audio stream - garage/alternative rock]
These guys insinuated that this was recorded on cassette tape (I think it was done in a studio and was only released on cassette!)
'For The Record' (?) - Sky Flying (?) [KickStarter video - instrumental/ambient]
Here's someone trying to raise funds to release their project on vinyl. (A dream of ours too!)
'Route 66' (cover) - Herby Wallace [YouTube video - pedal steel gutiar/swing]
Andrea's dad is an inductee of the NACMAI (Country Music Association) Hall of Fame and over the years has played and recorded with more big-name artists than you can shake a stick at! (But he himself is unsigned and thus not enslaved!) This video is of him at a steel-guitar convention a few years ago with Ben Brogden and other respected performers. (That Mulligan pedal-steel guitar he plays is a signature model they made to his specs and copies are available!)
(title unknown) - Gary 'Biscuit' Davis [YouTube video - banjo/bluegrass]
Gary is a 3 time (at last count) National Banjo Champion who has worked with many artists and was the chief musician/producer of Dolly Parton's 'Halo's & Horns' album! He is also our own Andrea's brother in law!
'I'll See You In My Dreams' - Philly Rhythm Kings [YouTube video - swing]
Featuring my old boss on fiddle/violin! (He's the incomparable Larry Feldman, a music attorney who owns and operates DMusic & Boycott-RIAA!)
'Butt Face Song' - GT Original [YouTube video slideshow - humor/rock]
Gary Tucker is a close friend who often blends humor with his sound (...which some compare to Jim Morrison and the Doors!)
'Magazines' - Popdolls [YouTube video - synth/punk/mod/rock]
Great friends of ours we met at DMusic many moons ago!
'Goodnight' - Leaving Cash [YouTube video - rock/alternative]
Brian Fitzgerald was freshly returned to his hometown in this video after having placed as a runner-up in the 'My Grammy Moment' contest a couple years ago. (He got to perform with the Foo Fighters on the Grammy Awards show with the other winners!)
'Proud Mary' - (cover of Ike & Tina Turner's version) Rockit For Kids featuring Victoria [YouTube video - r&b/rock]
Victoria played with Rockit For Kids at a nearby school and we stumbled upon clips from that show browsing Youtube.
'Painted Me Blue' - Tiffany Jo Allen [YouTube video - teenage pop/rock]
We have known Tiffany via DMusic for several years (via DMusic) since she was very young. (She's still very young!) We warned her and her family of the dangers of signing with a major label and the advantages of remaining an independent artist. So far, she's still unsigned and is one of the most viewed artists at YouTube! Quite an achievement! This video of hers is of high-dollar commercial production quality.
'Cowboy In His Soul' - Tom Barger (w/Leland Sklar) [YouTube video - western/folk]
Tom is an incredible singer/songwriter and he and I (Shmoo) have both served as musical activists at the helm of the Boycott-RIAA website.
'The One I Love Is Gone' - The Moonlighters [audio stream - folk tinged bluegrass]
Simply wonderful!
'Helios' - Dan Dectis [audio stream - acoustic folk/rock/jazz instrumental]
Amazingly good recording of guitars with a reed instrument, light percussion, and some kind of subtle retro keyboard! A chill-out tune to contend with! From the album, 'Deeply Superficial'.
'Ain't No Shame In My Game' - Fall Creek Brass Band [streaming audio - ska/jazz/dixieland]
There's actually a bunch of their songs linked here! All worthy!
'Fragile Things' - The Forever Erratics [YouTube video - jazz tainted folk alternative]
Wonderful stop motion animated video!
'Burning Symphony' - Josh Ford [YouTube video - accoustic singer/songwriter folk rock]
A good tune! Works well as a vid even though just a single camera straight-ahead shot! (I dig the sepia filter effect!)
'Mandy' - Stolen Ink [Soundcloud audio stream - punk/pop rock demo]
Stolen Ink has a bunch of free stuff do download!
'I Need Some Time' - Blue Mother Tupelo [YouTube video - live outdoor concert, folk/roots]
We always make the effort to see Ricky & Micol Davis perform whenever they are playing nearby! What an awesome duo!
'Jalalabad' - A DMusic Production [YouTube video (slideshow) - rock/political]

'Sick at the Vic' - Bill Wright Band [YouTube video - live club performance, rock]
Shmoo knows these guys from his days in Colorado at about the time of the end of his service in the US Army. (Wish we could find something including them with Lisa Clements who used to sing with BWB back in those days!)
'Neverender' - The Fold [YouTube video - pop/rock]

'Brain is so "oh, oh"' - Elly Kellner [YouTube video - pop/rock]
We met Elly via DMusic.com several years ago. She is Awesome!
'America' (cover of Simon & Garfunkel) - Keith Forman [YouTube video - live outdoor festival performance, folk/rock]
Keith is a long-time friend of Electric Gypsy! We ourselves did the video and audio production on this tune for him in June of 2009.
